Deposit Return Scheme

  • Updated

1. Why is there a deposit charge on my order?

You may notice a small deposit on drinks in plastic or metal containers with a ‘Re-turn’ logo. It's part of Ireland's plan to boost recycling and reduce litter (also known as the Return Deposit Scheme).

2. How does it work?

When you buy a drink with the ‘Re-turn’ logo, you pay a little extra as a deposit.

If you return the empty container to any participating store, you'll get your deposit back while helping the environment at the same time.

Find out more about the Deposit Return Scheme.

3. How do I get my deposit back?

Return empty and undamaged containers to any store or restaurant that sells drinks with the ‘Re-turn’ logo, and your deposit will be refunded there.

4. Where can I return containers?

You can check out the interactive map to find return locations across Ireland.

5. How do I know if a container is part of the scheme?

There will be a ‘Re-turn’ logo on plastic, steel, or aluminium drink containers.

6. How are charges displayed during ordering?

Any deposits will show on the menu and when you check out.

7. Why do I have to pay a deposit?

The deposit is set by the government's scheme, not us. It's to encourage eco-friendly choices that help make our environment a better place.
